I guess you gotta take calculated risks to break ahead, but this was a major FAIL. This is all on a squeaky clean Windows 7 install with 4GB of RAM. Also, the audio randomly drops out completely requiring a reboot to resolve. It just doesn't sound much different and there's an ever so slight noticeable lag (latency), which would make this a real PITA in a live situation. Only other thing I tried was changing some of the default drums/cymbals using the drop downs and the sounds do change so I'm definitely hearing SD sounds being triggered vs. Plus, the sound completely drops after a few minutes. This would never work in a live situation. A little less robotic sounding, but the latency and slight lack of sensitivity killed it. Have not played with bleed settings, etc., but I was expecting the stock sounds to be huge improvement over the TD-8, which they are not. Yes, Full Install on a fast Lenovo laptop with 4GB RAM with a clean install of Win 7 (No AV or other garbage installed to get in the way). Have you tried to emphasize the room sounds by favoring the room (OH, AMB) mikes over the close mikes (not absolutely necessary, I just reckon Avatar sounds better that way)?Buffer size is 256, I also tried 512, but it made no difference. I can't help - but if you answered a few of these questions it's possible that others might help you. Have you tried to emphasize the room sounds by favoring the room (OH, AMB) mikes over the close mikes (not absolutely necessary, I just reckon Avatar sounds better that way)? Have you played with the Master Bleed setting?ĭid you experiment with the Sonalkis plug-ins? If so, do all your sounds always still sound like the TD-8? )?ĭid you do a full install of the library to enable all the bleeds? What's your buffer size (under Options/Audio/Latency Settings. I'm probably going to return all this nonsense and get the new Yamaha DTK900 after all.

I've spent some serious hours/dollars researching, configuring and setting this up all for basically the same sound I'm already getting from my 10 year old TD-8? So it finally decided to start working and I can't tell you how disappointed I am.
